Replace 400w HPS? Not a chance. However, a gimmick? Not at all.
This light has been running 12/12 for about two months. Every diode is still working. I used this as the only light in a 4x4 tent (before I could afford another one) and considering I knew it was definitely not enough wattage for that coverage, it really impressed me.This is NOT going to replace a 400w HPS. Just no way in hell. However, it is still awesome. I use it in conjunction with a 600w HPS hood now in the 4x4. I mention this because this panel hangs very close to the 600w bulb, which is quite hot. The continually changing humidity and temperature fluctuation have not noticeably affected this light's output. It's come in real handy when my last 400w HPS broke one morning, and another time when we had to switch off the 600w so the landlord didn't think there was a nuclear reactor in a random tent in our laundry room.If money was no object, I'd probably buy three more of these instead of the 600w. But for now that's $1000 I can't afford. The 600w ballast only cost me $155 (of course I already owned an inline fan, 600w bulb a friend gave me, and the old HID hood).Basically, if heat is a huge issue, these are awesome. Also I really like the 50,000 hour rating and no bulb replacement. Replacing a bulb is a big deal when it costs near $100 for a high-quality horticultural bulb rated for only 10,000.My bottom line is: if you have the capability to house an HID light and want to go with a simple setup, leave the LED alone. However, if you can't have an inline fan running, can't have that sort of heat production etc...then this would be a great choice for a more low-profile setup. If you already have an HID system, I'd recommend this as a supplementary light. More wattage is nice, but your plants will gain additional benefits from the finely-tuned spectrum as well as the inclusion of the innovative UV-B diodes. My ladies love having both!PS - From my experience using this light alone, I'd recommend using it for an area NO BIGGER THAN 2'x2'. Anything more than 4 square feet is going to require more wattage of some kind. If you just have a 2'x2' tent, I bet this thing would kill it in there.

Great Lamp for Indoor growing, and Great customer service.
I had a issue with 1 lamp, but the customer service was superb and they went on and solve all the issues, and the quality of the light is excellent, this is my second purchased lamp and it exceeds my expectations. waiting to see if the replacement arrives safely and as good as the 1st one.

G8LED 240Bloom Review
This was my first light from G8LED.it was packaged well and arrived ahead of time which was highly appreciated. My original plan was to take my clones which had grown under my T5 lights and put them in my 3x3 flower tent under this bloom light. I was disappointed to learn that I would need to also veg with a LED to be able to flower with my bloom light successfully. I had to purchase one more light so I went with the other 240w light from G8LED. I just supplemented my existing T5s with the G8-240and the added light made a remarkable difference. I noticed larger leaves which were a deep green color. My plants grew wider and ended up taking up more space as they matured. Now they had filled up the grow tent more so than ever before.I decided to get a second bloom light because I had the added wattage during veg and I wanted to stay consistent. At this point I felt comfortable investing more into these lights because the experience thus far had been very positive. If I could go back I would get the 450bloom instead of two of the 240blooms but that is just a personal preference. Currently I am past the half way mark of flowering and the crop looks very promising. Trichome formation is apparent and the flowering is very robust, down to the bottom half of the stems. It is difficult to predict the final yield but it does look like it will be a good harvest. I give the G8LED 240Bloom light 5 stars and highly recommend it for an easy to manage indoor grow.

DocBud made a great recommendation with the G8LEDs
In the 420magazine forums I had seen a moderator called DocBud who did a grow with the G8 lights and gave them a full endorsement, posting pictures of buds which he called "perfect" and gave some really good insight to growing indoors with LED lights. I read for a few weeks to make sure everything was legit and decided to get two of these for my 4x4 flower tray to compare to my 4x4 hps tray right next to it. After a few weeks I realized that I should put a barrier between the two trays because the lights were feeding into the other trays. These 240Blooms run so cool but my tray was still hot so I decided to completely separate them so there was no cross contamination of light or heat or anything else. I decided to get a third bloom light as two was just not enough for my needs. Now the G8LED tray is right up to "par" (pun intended) with the HPS tray. I didn't add led to the mother plant until later so I am expecting even better results next round since the clones will have had LED exposure before going into flowering but overall I am very happy wi these lights. They are better than I expected and quality, benefits of ease of temperature control and even power savings totally justify the investment for me. I am going to keep experimenting with the G8LEDs and pace a total upgrade to all led for my garage grow.

Another inferior led light!!
Complete waste of time and money!! My g8led worked for 20 hours. Rated for 50000 hours. What a joke! Another company exploiting a new market. Keep your money in your pocket!
