This is the book we all need to study
There are so many online video tutorials that are wonderful to showing ways to make our photos wonderful that I was reluctant to buy a book about Lightroom Classic. Sylvan is the ultimate complement to all the videos because he shows the ins and outs of the workflow. I had know idea how many ways the interface can be used and I learn something on nearly every page. This is a book of the mechanics of Lightroom and these are important to learn to go along with developing your own personal style of developing photos. At nearly 400 pages, the book makes me a much more efficient user of Lightroom Classic.

Not for beginning Photographers or Photo management users.
The author would benefit his audience by dumming it down even more. I have been doing Photography for 17 years and 12 of that professionally. I find some sections of the book clear and well explained and other sections, the book assumes way more experience from the "dummy" than can be expected. Recommendations: Please add to the book, a chapter at the back of the book with all the acronyms and terms with a clear and simple explanation. When using an acronym for the first time, use the following format, example.... DNG (Digital Negative), instead of using an acronym with no definition of what the letters stand for. In cognitive learning, the reader will better understand and retain the meaning of an acronym using this convention. Other acronym issues. HEIC is an example on page 62. Nowhere does the book tell us what those letters stand for and a simple explanation of what it tries to accomplish (keeping a high quality image but using even less data than JPG). This occurs throughout the book with the panoply of acronyms in photography. When talking about color spaces, a simple color space graph would greatly aid a textual explanation. In the next edition, please revisit the explanation of concepts and assume that the dummy knows nothing. Thanks.

Hard to read and hard to use.
Hard to read and hard to use. This is not easy go to book that I had hoped for. It sits on my shelf with other unused books that I will probably never read.

Know Your Lightroom Version Before You Buy This Book
In hindsight, it's obvious, but this book is NOT intended for the most current version of Lightroom that Adobe is pushing... This is for the version of Lightroom that runs all locally on your personal computer, NOT the version that stores your photos in the cloud. The description for this book should have been clearer (as should Adobe's naming strategy for it's photo development software products, but that's not Amazon's problem, I guess!).

A good instruction manual
I've used Lightroom for a number of years and bought a really techie manual for it that was more concerned with workflow and getting professional results. As a result I only used half the programs capabilities. The For Dummies book lead me gently into some of the areas I've avoided. Lightroom still has many professional tools I will never use but my editing results have improved since I purchased this book.

Almost totally devoid of American humour. Hip, hip, . . . .
This is a well written and comprehensive reference book. Dip in as you need and you'll find it a useful addition to your library.

An Excellent Overview
I was starting from scratch with Lightroom Classic and found this to be an excellent book. I read it cover to cover which takes some time. But by doing that I can now go back and dip into it quite easily and quickly find what I want to review.
